Queen of Cover Girls, Supermodel Yuri Ebihara, at a Crossroads
Yuri, Ebichan, Ebihara is, um, was Japan’s most prominent model.
For just the second time in nearly four years Ebihara’s picture will NOT be on the cover of the fashionable CanCam magazine that is hugely, 600,000 copies/month, popular.
CanCam has a huge impact on Japan’s very big spending OLs, office ladies.
Ebichan is an ancient 28-years old and CanCam targets
OLs in their early 20s.
A new chief editor last month led to a new cover model…Maki Nishiyama appearing this month.
Yuri Ebihara’s acting performance reviews have been unanimous - She can’t act. Her roles have become playing a model = she doesn’t have to act.
Even among Japan’s non-stop talk shows, she gets bad reviews - voice isn’t high enough, lacks energy.
Chances are she will shift over to fashion designer from modeling - a handbag she designed is selling fairly well.
Ebihara does still have TV commercial appeal says a production company producer.
28-years old and washed up?
“No way,” says her handlers.
Nope, Japan will squeeze all they can out of this pretty lady and then start squeezing on the next one.
