It’s called Cosplay in Japan. The word is a combination of costume and play. Girls dress up like manga, animation (anime), video game or fantasy movie characters and go after guy’s wallets.
Guys will pay girls to do almost anything. And, girls will do most anything if they can make money at it.
A new fad is for sexy young girls to dress up in summer yukatas, (a very non-complicated kimono) kneel down, and lend an ear, actually, it’s clean the ear wax out of obliging patrons.
Guys will pay 2,500 yen to lay their heads on the laps of these cosplayers and have the girls clean their ears for them. No kidding!

That is not what petting meant when I was in school.
Akihabara, Japan’s cheap electronics district, is where it’s at. Buy a portable music player…have your ears cleaned.
